Two senior mix breed dogs named Jack and Dane married each other in the dog shelter to raise awareness to potential adoptive parents that they are inseparable. The staff at Kennebec Valley Humane Society located at Augusta, Maine, decided that these two pups should marry each other and immediately arranged a dog wedding at their shelter.
In August 2018, these two dogs were found closely tied to each other through their leashes. Stevanie Roy, the director of operations for KVHS, observed the two dogs and confirmed through their adorable behaviors that they are more than just dog pals.
Jack, ten years old, would always give way to his lady. He gave the best of everything he has to Dane first before getting a bite or taste of the treat or sometimes a toy. Dane, seven years old, was the dominant one in their relationship. She would always lead the way on their daily activities in the shelter, Dane was unarguably ‘in love’ with her beau too. She exhibited excitement to see Jack and would do a sort of doggie dance the moment she’d get united with Jack.

Jack and Dane remained in the facility since their rescue in 2018. The staff thought it would be most appropriate to get them to marry each other as the staff would also refer them as the ‘old married couple’ in the shelter. The staff planned the wedding during their team meeting so everyone could attend the dog wedding.
Diane got ready in a private dressing room where she could put on her veil without her groom having a glimpse of her. Jack patiently waited by the altar waiting for his bride to be to walk down the aisle. Roy officiated the wedding, and when it was time to confirm their consent for marriage, Roy asked for a kiss on the cheek as the form of ‘I do.’ As for the kissing of the newlyweds, they grabbed a stuffed toy for them to hold on together.
