Dogs can be trained to help rescue people. These dogs are often considered heroes because they save people from dangerous, even deadly, situations.
However, a certain dog was able to rescue a woman from an accident even though it didn’t have any training. This is the story of a brave dog named Hero.
Shannon Lorio was in her car, driving fast along the curvy roads of Pavo in Georgia. She was angry from an earlier argument with her husband and was speeding to cool herself down. As she turned on a bend, her car suddenly went out of control and crashed.
Shannon was thrown to the backseat and into the glass at the rear. She lost consciousness. When she came to, she discovered that the upper half of her body was already out and on top of the trunk, while the lower half was still stuck in the car.
In pain and unable to call for help, all Shannon could do was hope that someone would come to her aid. Thankfully, help did come—and it came in the most unexpected way.
A dog arrived on the scene to help Shannon get free. He stood up to reach Shannon’s shirt and jacket, then pulled with all his might until he was able to get her out of the car and onto the ground.
The dog didn’t stop there. He continued to pull Shannon from the car to the side of the road where motorists could see her. Shannon wrapped her arms on the dog and pulled herself up. Soon, she was able to stand with the dog’s help.
Moments later, a vehicle stopped, and the driver called for help. An ambulance arrived quickly and brought Shannon to the hospital for treatment.
Shannon is very grateful to the dog who saved her life. The dog was named Hero in honor of what he had done.
